The Bellingham City Council is holding a hearing Monday night at 7:00PM on supporting the “new tax” on Carbon to be voted on in the current election.

 

Mike Peetoom At-Large County Council Candidate:

Suggests that people show up on Monday October 22nd at 5:30 in front of City Hall to rally before they testify to the Council on “how harmful this new tax will be for the Whatcom County economy”

 

Several legislative candidates from the area have stated they may attend.

Here is initiative 1631 as it appears on the ballot:

Initiative Measure No. 1631 concerns pollution. This
measure would charge pollution fees on sources of
greenhouse gas pollutants and use the revenue to
reduce pollution, promote clean energy, and address
climate impacts, under oversight of a public board.
