Referendum 101 is an initiative to overturn Senate Bill 5599 by placing it on the ballot for the people to vote for or against. This is a statewide effort. July 15th is the deadline to get about 200,000 plus signatures. The Organizers believe this can be done.

In the 2023 legislative session the Democrats unanimously passed Senate Bill 5599:

  • Provides that a licensed shelter for runaway or homeless youth does not need to contact the youth’s parents if there is a compelling reason not to, which includes a youth seeking protected health services.
  • Allows host homes to house youth without parental permission if a youth is seeking or receiving protected health care services.

What is protected health care?

“Protected health care services” means gender affirming treatment as defined in RCW 74.09.675 and reproductive health care services as defined in RCW 74.09.875.

During session this bill received overwhelming opposition from the people!  The legislators did not listen and Democrats unanimously passed this bill. The initiative process is our way to fight back and take back our parental rights! Read More about the Passed law and the Referendum Here
