Herb Porter

My name is Herb Porter, and I am running for re-election for the Ferndale City Council Position # 1.  I have lived and worked in Ferndale over four decades and retired 5 years ago from the Ferndale School District after teaching Spanish for 38 years.  I also served in the Washington Air National Guard for 28 years, retiring as a Senior Field Grade Officer.   In addition, I worked as an Inspector for Customs and Border protection for over 14 years at the Blaine, WA Port of Entry.

During the last decade, we have all noticed the increased growth in Ferndale.  I recognize that a balanced approach to business and residential growth is very important, along with sensible environmental practices.  I decided to run again for City Council with the goal of working together, achieving the greatest good for the greatest number.  I am a fiscal conservative and believe in a common-sense approach to government.  It is my conviction that honesty, integrity, and transparency are paramount in effectively serving others.

In the coming years, the City will continue to grapple with such issues as population growth, infrastructure, traffic management, and housing.  We need to be proactive in revitalizing our businesses, infrastructure, and recreational activities.

I will continue to listen to people’s concerns and ideas with an open mind.  I am willing to make tough decisions, always taking into account, what’s best for our city.  Together, we can continue to make Ferndale a great place to live, work, and raise a family.  I would be honored to have your vote and continued support.
